Roxie in Feathers

On Monday nights I travel to Franklin TN to Southgate Gallery at the Factory to paint from life. We have painted Roxie many times in the past and she always has great costumes to wear, some of them she has made. Usually we only have one session of about 3 hours but every once in awhile, we get two sessions. We got to paint Ms. Roxie 2 nights and she was splendid in her purple feathers (a little challenging I might add). The next image is my finished product after about 6 hours of painting. I'll do a slideshow with my different Roxie's in a couple of days.

Your painting is awesome, I really have no other description. It looks so life like. I love the costume.

This HAD to be challenging, but you certainly pulled it off. Great job, Rhonda!

Suzanne,

I was seeing various shades of purple for awhile! I was pleased at how she turned out, I find profiles challenging.

Brenda,

Thanks, Roxie is a great model. She's like the energizer bunny and never tires out (wish I could say the same for me).

Your painting looks so lifelike Rhonda! You really captured the purple feathers which I imagine can be difficult to paint.

Thank you Pat, I had to break out my special purple paint to pull it off.

Wow that is an amazing painting. I think that has to be my new favourite, (although I do still like the pink pop art flower and the miniatures) This one is so life like and anything with feathers....well Im ya girl! It always amazes me when artists paint faces, I imagine that it is one of the hardest things to capture just right. By the way the ice cream was delish, but if you are ever passing my way you are more than welcome to stay for dinner X

Hi Mandy,
It is challenging to get a likeness --if the nose if off a smidgeon or the eyes arent even (done a few of those LOL). . . I would love to come for dinner I think my passport is still good but I can't get my hubby to go anywhere that you can't ride a motorcycle to. Same for me if you ever come to Kentucky!

Gina,
I'll be on the back of the motorcycle with my Canon Power Shot looking for bears while riding through the mountains. . .

Thanks for your comments on Roxie and her feathers--I've missed you but figured since it's springtime in your area you're busier.

Thanks Mary, I certainly have my dose of "purple" now. Roxie is always a fun model.
