Lilacs & Thistle

8x10

I don't have a cat but couldn't resist painting this one that belongs to a friend of mine. I like the contrast between the flowers, the pitcher and the cat.

Paz,
The cat is my favorite part, I used to have a black cat named Midnight that I loved dearly.

Midnight. What an appropriate-sounding name. I like it!

Rhonda, this painting is lovely. Everything about it works. And I love that you painted the back of the cat instead of the front. Very nice! :)

The contrast is fantastic. I also think its wonderful to see the back of the cat, I am trying to wonder what his expression is.

I'm thinking he is looking at the back of his eyelids taking a nice nap in the warm afternoon sun (sounds really good to me).

Thanks,
Rhonda

Sweet Rhonda,
That cat painting its so adorable!?
How did you managed to keep the cat still for so long?
Or... did you take a photo of the cat...
... and then painted it?

Hi Debbie,

Sorry I haven't responded but I've been on vacation--a motorcycle trip. Thanks so much for your comment on the painting. I think I could have painted this one "live" but it was done from a photograph.

Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi Paz,
Motorcycle trips are cool but a lot depends on Mother Nature for me. Fortunately she smiled on us, a little hot on the way home--high 90's but very beautiful. Looks like Fall is right around the corner though. I love Fall but hibernate in Winter (like a big bear).

I'm glad Mother Nature smiled on you during your motorcycle travels. ;-) What an interesting way to travel.
